I have practiced psychotherapy in England, Greece (My country of origin) and in Singapore. I have successfully assisted my clients to stop repeating the same behavioral patterns which create problems in personal, work and family relationships. Over the years I have collaborated with patients to help them gain mastery over issues ranging from anxiety to low self-esteem and low self-image to anxiety, sexual and emotional abuse, bipolar disorder, codependency problematic interaction patterns, OCD, marital issues, divorce, sexual challenges, third culture children difficulties and many other issues as well.
My training as a family and systemic therapist, gives me an acute perception of the roots of my clients presenting problems. Most of the issues we are struggling with in life as children, adolescents and adults stem from our early childhood years. My belief is that unless clients are guided to relive their early childhood years through the lenses of the experienced adults they currently are, the disruptive thoughts and behaviors will persist and disrupt their lives. Certain memories, convictions and perceptions will have to be reevaluated and processed in order to achieve emotional freedom and stability. Serenity and harmony is possible.
People in therapy often feel stuck in behavioral patterns and labels that have been enforced upon them by authority figures (i.e. parents, teachers) and it often seems impossible to disengage themselves from those attributes, although they feel they are false and unfair. At this point I often suggest hypnotherapy or visualization techniques. Such techniques help clients master change on an unconscious level which is not as resistant as their conscious self. Over the years I have found that hypnotherapy and visualization techniques assist clients move towards their goals and overcome their difficulties faster while change is permanent. However, the prerequisite is for the client to be willing to try out these techniques.
At the end of the day, psychotherapy is a very effective way to invest in yourself or your children and your future. In our modern, fast changing times, we invest in education, in our careers and our significant others but we easily neglect investing in ourselves. An individual that has achieved inner equilibrium and finds himself in a functional, personal, intimate and working relationship, has a much greater chance of success in all parts of life. He is more likely to produce functional, emotionally stable, happy children.
